The mine rails end here in a massive pile of rubble and rock, the result of a cave-in centuries ago.

[h2]End Of The Line[/h2]

This section of mine had just started being explored when the Cataclysm hit. Miners at this level made their way up nearly 2,000 ft in the tunnels, aided only by candle light. No one would return to this section for nearly 100 years.

When they did, they found that this section of tunnel had collapsed under hundreds of tons of rubble. It is suspected that the tunnel collapsed in the aftermath of the Cataclysm, which triggered thousands of seismic shocks in the weeks and months afterward. [img:1734153|right|300]

To date, the miners have not chosen to try to dig out the cave-in, as there are occasional rumbles of seismic activity and it is feared that the tunnel itself could have further collapse. In addition, this region of the mine was not known to be productive, reducing the priority for such a project.

[h2]Mine Boss Office[/h2]

The mine boss’ office at this level is the Logistics office. All distribution of ore and gem materials is handled through this office. Mine carts with ore are staged here, and assigned destinations based on their contents. Each cart is tagged with metal plaques indicating the destination site. These tags are reused and highly controlled, as the Orsholonian Directorate of Mining only releases a specific number of permits for materials from the mine. Currently, the permits from this mine are set at 127, based on the output of the mine.

Mine carts with gem materials are also staged here, but the contents of those carts are immediately moved into the mine boss’ office. They are placed into crates stored in the office, and moved into a vault. Where they go from there is unknown, as no one has ever seen the materials leave the mine. Nevertheless, there has never seemed to be a shortage of gems available for sale and trade in Orsholon.

When the mine boss is not present, a guard stands watch outside the locked office door, and deliveries of gemstone materials are withheld until the boss is present.
