The Heretics

After The Cataclysm, most survivors fled underground and shunned technology as they believed that the overuse of technology caused the massive extinction-level event. But a small group thought that technology could help them survive and recover.

Known initially as Technologists, they were banished for their beliefs about technology. As the stories of The Emissaries became more and more mythologized, the Technologists tried to explain the real nature of The Emissaries as mortals. As a result, the Technologists were treated as blasphemous and branded as heretical.

In current Arnathia, very few Technologists are believed to exist. If they do exist, they are in hiding, and would be distant descendants of the original Technologists. Technological artifacts are considered reminders of the Cataclysm, and usually destroyed. There are some individuals who collect them as curiosities, and the value of technological artifacts, Ene, is quite high, especially if they are in good condition.

The Heretics that remain are generally not well-known, preferring to keep their beliefs secret to avoid entanglements with those who do support them or actively want them eliminated. There is one, however, who has prominence.

[tooltip:Crazy Talker (Urnati)]Wasam Sunuli[/tooltip] has been a character known since the Cataclysm, and may be nothing more than myth. It is also possible that this individual is a succession of individuals, as a Wasam Sunuli has been talked about for thousands of years. The stories about the Wasam Sunuli revolve around the use of technology for evil and how this individual wields it.
